CLAY DEMONS

On the croatian sand island of Susak we performed a archaic playful photography session. With the local clay and see water, the faces and the bodies were reworked, deformed and changed. Transforming people into CLAY DAEMONS. Referring to the ancient Greek mythology, the chtonic heroes were spirit guides, performing the iconography of the forces of the nature. The resulting Portraits show the confrontation of body, identity and earth. The clay layer on the body opens up glances of sublime beauty in the mud, aesthetics of archaic rituals and materialization of imagined earth demons under masks. Reflecting the (lack of) relationship between man and earth.
